Travel, Park and Stay at the Vancouver Lab
Our Vancouver classes run out of the ECM Coffee Machines training facility in Burnaby. We also deliver Barista Training, Business and Coffee Roasting courses from satellite campuses across British Columbia and neighbouring provinces and territories by request.
The training lab entrance is at the rear of the building at 3711 1st Avenue. Watch the parking video below before your first class so you know exactly where to turn in.

Parking Your Car
This short walkthrough shows the parking area and the exterior of the building, including the rear entrance to the lab.
Travelling by SkyTrain
Two SkyTrain stations serve the lab. Both are an easy walk or a short bus ride away.
From Gilmore Station
Depending on the time of day, the #129 bus from Gilmore Station reaches the Institute in about 5 minutes. On foot it's roughly a 15-minute walk.
From Rupert Station
Take the #9 bus from Rupert Station to Boundary Loop, then walk the remaining few minutes — about 8 minutes door to door. Walking the whole way takes roughly 20 minutes.
Where to Stay
Two nearby hotels extend their preferred corporate rate to Canadian Barista Institute students. Both rates include parking, and both offer transportation to the lab. You must ask for the Canadian Barista Institute rate when you book — it won't be applied automatically, and it isn't available through third-party booking sites.
Executive Suites Hotel and Resort — Burnaby
4201 Lougheed Highway, at Gilmore Station. Corporate preferred rate for single or double occupancy, including:

Group bookings and check-in details
For five or more rooms per night, contact the Sales Manager directly at 604-297-4292 or salesbby@executivehotels.net.
Guests are responsible for their own room, tax and incidentals. Check-in is 3:00 pm and check-out is 12:00 pm; early arrival and late check-out are accommodated where possible, subject to availability.
Accent Inns — Burnaby
3777 Henning Drive, just off Highway 1. Preferred corporate rate for single or double occupancy of a standard guest room, plus 15% tax. The rate includes:
- Complimentary transportation anywhere within a 10-minute radius of the hotel — which covers the lab
- Complimentary parking and Wi-Fi

Payment and cancellation details
A credit card is required at the time of reservation as a guarantee. No charges are processed until you arrive.
If someone other than the registering guest is paying for the room and won't be present at check-in, a third-party credit card authorization form is required. Accent Inns Burnaby can supply the form.
Cancellation is by 4:00 pm on the day of arrival.
Other Options
- Coast Metro Vancouver Hotel — 2950 Boundary Road, renovated in 2023. The closest hotel to the lab and an easy walk straight up Boundary Road, with free parking. We don't have an arrangement here, but it's usually the most affordable of the three.
- Airbnb in Burnaby — filter for listings near Gilmore or Rupert Station.
Wherever you book, it's worth telling the property you're in town for a training course. Many hotels will quote a corporate rate if you simply ask.
Food and Drinks for Class
You don't need your usual morning coffee before class unless you can't function without it — you'll have plenty of opportunity to pull, pour and drink coffee throughout the day. Bring any snacks or drinks that will keep you comfortable.
For lunch, we recommend packing a brown-bag lunch rather than heading out. Students who leave often lose classroom time waiting on a busy restaurant.
