CBI Alumni Map

Our graduates are running cafés, roasteries and bakeries, and working in many more. This map shows the ones we know about: over 200 so far, across Canada and beyond.

What this map is, and what it isn't

It isn't a ranking, and it isn't a seal of approval. We haven't reviewed these businesses, and it doesn't tell you how good anyone's coffee is or show everything we do. It's simply a record of where our graduates ended up. For businesses that have committed in writing to our coffee standard, see our CBI Approved Coffee and CBI Approved Roasters lists.

It's also far from complete. Graduates don't always tell us when they open, so there are certainly many more out there.

If you're thinking of opening

Your friends and family believe in you, and that support matters. Our job is different. We ask the hard questions, the ones you can't wiggle out of, and we assign homework, because we want the money you're about to spend to rest on real-world data as well as on hope.

Some people come out of that ready for a stronger opening. Some go back and run their existing business better. And some see the work involved, decide it doesn't fit the life they want, and choose not to open. That's a good outcome too.

If you haven't done that work yet, we'll give you a pathway forward. Doing it improves your chances of success, but nothing can guarantee them.

Visit a few of these places, buy a coffee, and ask the owner what they'd do differently.

Did you train with us?

If you've opened something, or do one day, email us the name of your business and we'll add it. It's free. If you're on the map and would rather not be, tell us and we'll take you off.
