Frequently Asked Questions — Toronto

Do I need previous barista experience?
No experience required for Level 1. Our courses are designed for complete beginners through to experienced baristas looking to refine their skills.

How long are the classes?
Class lengths vary by level: Barista Level 1 is 3.5 hours, Level 2 is 2.5 hours, Level 3 is 3.5 hours, and Level 4 is 3 hours. Our 2-Day Complete Barista Bundle runs across two full days, and the 4-Day Bundle combines all four levels with our Coffee Business Course.

How much does barista training cost?
Pricing varies by course and changes seasonally. Visit our Toronto courses page for current pricing and available bundle discounts.

Will I receive a certificate?
Yes. Every student who completes a course receives a certificate of completion, along with a printed manual and study guide. Complete all four barista levels and receive your full CBI Barista Certification.

How many students are in each class?
We keep our classes small on purpose. Small group sizes mean more hands-on time per student and more direct feedback from your instructor — that's a core part of how CBI teaches.

Do you offer gift certificates or flexible scheduling?
Yes to both. Our flexible scheduling bundles let you purchase a course at the current price and choose your dates later — no time limit. They make excellent gifts. See flexible bundle options here. Check our website for current seasonal pricing before it changes.

What equipment will I use during training?
You'll train on professional-grade espresso machines, grinders, and brewing equipment used in artisan cafés across Canada. CBI sells no equipment and earns no commissions — so every recommendation you receive is completely unbiased.

Do you sell or recommend equipment?
No. CBI has a strict no equipment sales, no commissions policy across all four of our Canadian campuses. Our instructors give completely unbiased recommendations — your success is the only agenda in the room.

Is there transit access to the Davenport lab?
Yes. The lab at 116 Geary Ave #107b is accessible by TTC. Plan your trip at ttc.ca. Street parking is also available — paid spots on the south side of Geary Ave (Green P app required) and free spots on Salem Avenue North and Westmoreland Avenue North nearby.
