Finding the Lab

We're inside a working artisan factory building, so the unit isn't obvious from the street. This video walks you from the sidewalk to the classroom door.

Parking Your Car

Paid parking on Geary Avenue

There is paid street parking on the south side of Geary Avenue. You'll need the Green P app to pay for it.

Free parking on Salem Avenue North

If you'd rather not pay, there is free street parking on Salem Avenue North, half a block west of us — a short, easy walk to the lab. It's first come, first served, so arrive early and have a backup in mind.

Taking Transit

The 29 Dufferin bus stops at Dufferin Street at Geary Avenue, a minute's walk from the lab. It runs the full length of Dufferin Street, so it connects almost everything below to our door with a single bus and no transfer.

The nearest subway station is Dufferin on Line 2, about a fifteen-minute walk straight north up Dufferin Street, or four stops on the 29 bus.

From Union Station: Line 1 north to St George, transfer to Line 2 westbound to Dufferin, then the 29 bus north or a fifteen-minute walk. Allow about 40 minutes.

From Toronto Pearson: the UP Express reaches Bloor Station in about 20 minutes. From there it's a short outdoor walk to Dundas West station, then Line 2 eastbound two stops to Dufferin. Allow roughly 45 to 55 minutes in total.

Where to Stay

Geary Avenue is a former industrial street, so there are no hotels on our block. The options below are all a straightforward trip to class, and we've noted how you'd actually get here from each. We don't have a booking arrangement with any of them — but it's always worth telling the hotel you're in town for a training course, as many will quote a corporate rate if you ask.

• Gladstone House — 1214 Queen Street West, on the corner of Dufferin. The most practical choice: walk out the door, take the 29 Dufferin bus north to the Geary Avenue stop, and you're here in about 20 to 25 minutes with no transfer. Paid parking in a garage across the street. Ask for a rear-facing room if you're a light sleeper.
• The Drake Hotel — 1150 Queen Street West, two minutes' walk from the same 29 Dufferin bus. Excellent reviews. One thing to know: there's a nightclub in the basement, so if you have an early class, book Sunday to Wednesday or ask for a room away from it.
• Kimpton Saint George — 280 Bloor Street West, right at St George station. A full-service hotel if you'd rather not stay on a bar strip: Line 2 westbound to Dufferin, then the bus or a short walk. About 30 minutes door to door. Paid underground parking.
• Old Mill Toronto — 9 Old Mill Road, Etobicoke. The best option if you're driving in: a quiet riverside property with its own underground garage, about 20 minutes' drive from the lab, or 35 to 40 minutes on Line 2 from the station next door.

Food and Drinks for Class

You don't need your usual morning coffee before class unless you can't function without it — you'll have plenty of opportunity to make and drink coffee throughout the day. Bring any snacks or drinks that will keep you comfortable.

For lunch, we recommend packing a lunch rather than heading out, so you don't lose classroom time to a busy restaurant. If you'd rather go out, here are some places nearby — we don't endorse these establishments and can't guarantee their hours.
